When I turned 17, I was diagnosed with clinical depression and motivation no longer seemed important because one of the symptoms of Depression is a lack of interest and motivation. Afterwards I focused entirely on honing my self-discipline. STUDENT FEEDBACK: “Motivation alone wasn’t going to help me anymore. I looked down on anyone who struggled, blaming them for not having the proper discipline to get anything done. I didn’t know that pain was relative. To me, everyone was weak and cowardly. A big part of me still believes this.
